Several people know about tuition-free universities in Germany, but are not aware of the opportunities for skilled workers in Germany. In March 2020, the Skilled Workers Immigration Act, came into force because of a shortage in skilled workers. The German government is therefore creating the framework for future-oriented and needs-based immigration of skilled workers from Third World countries. Speaking of shortage of skilled workers, it doesn’t imply insufficient employees with specific skills available for a significant number of jobs. Rather, it focuses on applicants with certain academic qualifications or at least two years of vocational training.

What Field of Study Lacks Skilled Workers?

Health Sector

There are a handful of opportunities for skilled workers in Germany in the healthcare sector. However, the shortage of skilled workers severely affects the nursing care for the elderly and the sick. This is the “Altenheim Pflege”. Hence, the need for geriatric nurses will also continue to rise.  

There is also a shortage of qualified personnel in occupational groups that require technical or craft training.

In the expert’ sector, there is a shortage not only of doctors but also of engineers and computer scientists. Also affected are the academic occupational groups in the fields of medicine, engineering in mechanical and automotive engineering. Electrical engineering, IT, software development and programming are all-inclusive.

Technology Sector

Skilled trades such as electrical installation and assembly, machining technology, plastics processing, pipeline construction, welding technology, mechanical engineering.

Choice of Study

When intending to study in Germany, be it a bachelor’s or master’s degree, it will be of greater value that after graduation, there are several opportunities awaiting you in the job market. Therefore, it is expedient that your choice of study falls under any of these Categories.

Moreover, the experts in these fields of study mentioned above could read online about the job seekers visa that can be used to apply for jobs in Germany. In addition, the Blue Card Holders, especially for those who have already gotten a job and intend to travel.
